About Jennifer Pickering

Jennifer Pickering was born in Lausanne Switzerland and raised in Canada in the Okanagan Valley. Pickering is a visual artist and a graduate from the MFA studio arts program at the University of British Columbia. Her work has been exhibited at various solo and group exhibitions in BC. Jennifer was also a participant in the Free Manifesta; Manifesta 4 in Frankfurt, Germany.

"I do not create precious objects. The objects I choose to work with are familiar, common, and mass produced. This establishes a reference point from which to explore complex systems of information exchange. Issues of access and denial, of privilege, class, and where the power lies are central to my work."
